I don’t have an iPhone and boy am I glad. Over the past couple of days, there have been numerous reports of AT&T sending out bills that are 30, 50, 125 and as many as 300 double-sided pages long! AT&T doesn’t just itemize each phone call as you’d expect, but every SMS message and data transfer too. Click on something online with the iPhone? Yep, there’s a line item to document it on your tome of a phone bill. Is that ridiculous or what? So much for being green. So much for having any common sense at all!

An article at PCWorld that was just released today had the following quotes from AT&T spokesman, Mark Siegel:

“We can always give people a summary bill”
“The default is to get the detailed bill”
“That’s where things are now, but that’s not to say they’ll stay that way.”

What other phone company on the planet does this? Cingular is now the new AT&T. Oh, joy! And you’re stuck with them for two years. I feel bad for all those people who really (used to) enjoy using their iPhone.

Hmm. Maybe you can insulate the attic by crumpling the pages and tossing them up there.
